100 Paintings of San Francisco

I draw inspiration from both San Francisco’s iconic landmarks and its overlooked spaces, like ordinary corner markets or a highway overpass. I work from my own photographs and complete the paintings in my Oakland studio. Most of the works are acrylic on paper, 8x8 or 8x10 inches in size. I am interested in the microcosm of the painting,, allowing vibrant colors to emerge through thin layers paint. I invite viewers to engage closely with my work, discovering high-intensity hues that peek through, adding an unpredictable, lively quality to my portrayal of everyday subjects. I am inspired by the rich history of Bay Area painting and admit I rip off many of the great artists who created that history.
